What is the reason to add a second shooter to your package?
When planning your wedding photography, one question often comes up: Do we really need a second photographer?
The short answer? If you want a fuller, richer story of your day, then yes, it’s absolutely worth considering.
A second shooter helps making sure all the small moments being captured, for example when we go away to do your couple portraits the other photographer stay with the guests to capture everything that happens whilst you have your photos taken with me.

So what are the benefits?
When couples are building their wedding photography package, one of the most common questions I get is whether a second photographer is really necessary.
And honestly, it’s a fair question.
On the surface, it can feel like an “extra.” After all, you’re already hiring a photographer… isn’t one enough?
But once you start to think about how a wedding day actually unfolds, it becomes clear why having a second photographer can make such a difference.
Your wedding day isn’t one moment happening at a time. It’s dozens of moments, all unfolding at once. While you’re walking down the aisle, your partner is reacting, While you’re hugging family after the ceremony, your guests are laughing, wiping away tears, and celebrating around you. These are the moments that make your day yours, and they often happen simultaneously.
With one photographer, there’s only so much that can be captured. With two, your story is told in a much fuller, more meaningful way.
One of the biggest advantages is during the morning preparations. Instead of choosing whose getting-ready moments are documented, you don’t have to miss anything. One photographer can be with each of you, capturing the anticipation, the quiet moments, and the excitement as the day begins. When you look back, you’re not just seeing your own experience, you’re seeing the whole story.
Seeing the emotions your partner had before the ceremony, the celebrations with friends.
The same goes for the ceremony. Having two perspectives means not only do you get the key moments, but also the reactions, the look on your partner’s face, your parents in the front row, your friends smiling as it all unfolds. It adds depth to your gallery in a way that’s hard to replicate with just one point of view. Of course I still try and capture these moments as much as I can when I work by myself, having a second photographer just means they can focus on the guests and I can focus fully on you.
It also allows the day to flow more naturally. While one photographer is focused on portraits, the other can be documenting your guests, the atmosphere, and all the in-between moments you might not even realise are happening. There’s less rushing, less pressure, and more space for everything to be captured as it truly felt.
And then there are the candid moments, the ones you didn’t plan, the ones you didn’t even see. A second photographer increases the chances of those being documented. The laughter during cocktail hour, a quiet conversation, a spontaneous hug… these are often the images couples end up loving the most.
At the end of the day, it’s not really about having “more photos.” It’s about having a more complete story.
So, is a second photographer necessary? Not always. I usually recommend that if you have over 100 guests you should chose my package with a second shooter, or if you want a lot of candids.
If you want your wedding day captured in a way that feels full, layered, and true to how it actually unfolded, it’s something that’s absolutely worth considering.
Because when the day is over, your photographs are what remain, and having every angle, every reaction, and every moment preserved makes all the difference.

But will their style be like yours?
Yes!
This is very important to me as well, I have picked photographers for my team that photograph in the same way I do. With a focus on real moments and story telling photography.
My second photographers work perfectly with me on the day, they are calm and reassuring and knows how to capture your day the way I do.
These two photos are captured by my second photographers.
one of the many talented photographers on my team.
Emma
This is Emma, we met in 2023 when I did the videography for her wedding. Our partners work together and we became great friends.
I asked Emma if she wanted to get into wedding photography because she was already interested in photography, she said yes and I took her along to weddings.
Here we are 3 years later working our third season together and she has become on of my best friends.
Emma is one of the photographers you are likely to meet when you book my second shooter package, and she will make sure every candid moment is captured.
